Try not to panic if Uncle Phil loses his dentures, and laugh about it instead.

People can be the worst at times. Although most know better, there are plenty of people who willfully ignore social cues and attempt to undermine an event. This is very common at weddings. People can exhibit all sorts of spite, jealousy, and bad judgment when going to these ceremonies. If you’re planning for your upcoming celebration, you probably have a lot of concerns about uncomfortable wedding mishaps occurring on your special day. While the future is always a mystery, it is safe to say your day is going to be memorable.

There is no way to predict if something is going to go wrong, but you can definitely soften the blow. Look at some of these examples of people attempting to steal focus or outright ruin a wedding and take comfort in the fact you most likely won’t have to deal with these individuals.

Color Games

A bride typically wears white at her wedding. Of course, standards have shifted, and it is no longer as common as it once was. Still, a vast majority of women decide to wear white dresses when they are walking down the aisle. It stands to reason, the guests would take this into consideration when planning their own attire. Whether on purpose or by accident, there have been countless receptions where female guests have shown up in elaborate white dresses.

Wearing white to a wedding is a huge mistake unless its acceptance is explicitly stated on the invitations. There are many couples out there who opt to have receptions where all the guests wear white. Otherwise, wearing a white dress is going to be seen as a sign of disrespect. What’s even more uncomfortable is when someone shows up to an event wearing a dress that looks eerily similar to what the bridesmaids are wearing. It’s understandable for someone to feel left out when not asked to be in the bridal party. However, dressing in a copycat dress is ridiculous.

Desperate Measures

A wedding is a chance for two people to declare their love for one another with friends and family present. This is a very straightforward fact about most of these events. Despite this, there are plenty of people who attend these events with the hopes of making a specific kind of impression on the couple. Though it might be surprising, plenty of brides and grooms have mentioned guests trying to hit on them at their own weddings.

What’s worse about this situation is many of the people who made these advances during receptions were not former partners of the bride or groom. In many cases, the people deciding to make a pass were loose acquaintances or the guests of other guests. While most couples have been able to laugh about this fact later, these awkward advances have brought forth some seriously tense moments at plenty of events.

A Family Affair

Most couples assume their invitations are clear before having them sent to the printer. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people who do not pay attention to what is explicitly stated on the invite. Having a wedding that does not allow for children to be present is a sensible way to keep your event ordered and free of small people running around. Even though the invitations say otherwise, many couples have had to deal with parents bringing their children along to the reception without even asking first.

Though there are plenty of reasons to feel nervous about your wedding, most fears will prove to be unfounded. Instead of reading about uncomfortable wedding mishaps and feeling scared, just laugh about it. Understand you probably won’t have to face a vast majority of the scenarios others have dealt with.
