The Fight for Marriage Equality in Indiana

After many demonstrations and the use of pressure from the federal government and several groups actively working in support of marriage equality, the state of Indiana has struck down the ban against gay marriage as of October 2014. It wasn’t until September of 2014 that the United States Supreme Court entered the courtroom for Indiana Gay Marriage. On September 4th, the State of Indiana appealed a ruling from the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals that protects the freedom for same sex couples to marry. This ruling upheld a previous ruling from a lower court that declared Indiana’s opposition as unconstitutional. The ban was finally lifted in October.
